Pull Apart a Palette

Have you been spotting all of those amazing DIY pieces of furniture and focal walls being featured in magazines and home decorating shows created with old tossed-out wood palettes? Palettes are essentially rough-hewn 4-foot pine planks that are nailed together and used primarily for shipping goods, perfect for creative DIY’ing.

Once the goods are delivered, the palettes are no longer useful for the big (or small) box stores, but to an avid DIY’er, these piles of free planking are a gold mine! Here are a few palette projects being featured on Houzz.com, but you can also check out my Pinterest board…Pull Apart A Palette...for more inspiring ideas!!

This wall treatment isn’t made from palettes by this designer, but I am loving the green stain-easy to do with some old palettes!

Just add some stain and some wheels and you’ve got yourself a rustic rolling coffee table!

And finally, this amazing patchwork quilt of a reclaimed lumber wall. Gorgeous!

How about a complete outdoor seating area?

So, if you are inspired by what you see here, head to your nearest store and ask if they have any available palettes for the taking. The more weathered, the better! Hope you have a palatable Thursday, everyone! Susan
