Inspired. Rustic. New Country Style For Your Home.
I am a country stylist and decorator. I am a folk artist, avid DIY'er, fab furniture flipper and an all-around handy-woman. The power tools in our house belong to me! Daisies are my favorite flower, summer is my favorite season, pinot grigio my drink of choice and I love anything nautical or by the sea. Family comes first, everything else is just décor.
What do you have in the planter to hold the flowers in place?

Hi- I didn’t make this, but I believe they just used straight rebar and bent it. You need a special tool for that

LOVE your flowers, Lorraine! I have a ? about the poles and attachment method. What type of material is the pole? Is it threaded on both ends to attach the back to the pole and the knob in the center? Do you hammer your pole in the ground before attaching the flower? I prefer the screw method, but glue as well for added support. I’ve tried using the copper plumbing bells but then you have to disassemble the back to hammer the copper tubing into the ground, then reassemble, so it’s a pain! Please share your pole assembly process with me and thank you SO much for all the good advise. You are quite an artistic lady!

I buy a 10 foot conduit, then cut them in 30 inches each, I drill with 6 mm dimond bits and use metric 4 machine screws that are close to 3 inches in length that are threaded all the way up. you can use something called loctight before you screw the crystal knob, if you want it to not come apart but if you do make sure you don’t change your mind about taking it back apart because once you squeeze a very small amount into the screw hole on the back of knob before you screw it together it is very hard to unscrew it again. also after I finish my flowers, I buy 2 sizes of rebar, one foot and two feet. I hammer the rebar into the ground just untill it is solid (maybe 3 inches) then I put my pole over the top of it to display them, the smaller for the minis and 2 foot for the larger ones.. My new website is on FaceBook, just put Flower Plated & More in the search bar.

To drill the glass, you need a dimond tip drill bit, which you can purchase at home depot for 15.00 or ebay for a whole lot cheaper. I use a drill press for smaller and hand drill for large things. I anker the smaller on drill press with rubber bands to keep it from moving around. Make sure tou mark you spot with black marker where you want the hole. Then pour some water on plate. Then slowly press the handle untill down as you don’t want to go to fast. You can feel hoe fast you want to press it but don’t be afraid. Make sure you have a small bucket or something underneath to catck the water and piece of glass, then you should be able to drill right through. My plates I drilled are on Pinterest under my name..Lorraine Hartnagel check them out.

I am not sure, as I have never done it myself. But there are lots of pins on my Garden Glass Pinterest Page if you want to take a look there. I do know, from watching so many episodes of DIY on HGTV, that you need to use a glass drill bit and put a piece of tape over the hole you are drilling to hold it in place. Good luck! Send me a picture once you are done : )

I don’t use glue on my flower plates I make. I drill holes in them them I use long metric screws and the attach them to the poles I also drill holes in. The final part is using a crystal drawer knob screwed on to the front.

Thanks for the information! I had no idea how they were attached strongly enough to make them last in the garden.
